Justice For Jermaine

On January 1st, 2019, 7-year-old Byron Clark died after taking his medications, suffering a seizure and falling. He was a special needs child adopted by Jermaine St. John, and his partner in November 2018. Needless to say, they were devastated by Byron’s death. However, after over a year and two internal reviews that included enough blame to go around (and possibly some scapegoating) Jermaine St. John was charged, not with neglect or child endangerment, but manslaughter!

Black Americans and poor citizens of all races, creeds & colors suffer in the two-tier Justice System in the US, where you can only get as much “justice” as you can buy. The St. John family deserves the chance to vigorously defend themselves in court, and shouldn’t be handicapped by an unjust system that regularly railroads average Americans into plea deals due to their lack of funds.

Therefore, defending this innocent man creates an immediate and dire need for funds. The St. John family will use every dime raised to pay for legal bills, medical experts and other urgent expenses related to Jermaine’s fight for Justice. The family must keep the wheels of justice lubricated with money, because Jermaine’s freedom & the health and happiness of his family are at stake.

Jermaine is a wonderful father actively raising a young family with his partner. They have two other children in the home, an 8-year-old and a 13-year-old. Jermaine is a great role model for his family. His family is his world, and his sons admire him. Some say the Black community lacks positive male role models, and Jermaine certainly fits the bill, with the way he gives all his time to his family. They adopted Byron because their home had enough love to share with him. The tragedy of his death shouldn’t be compounded by wrongful prosecution.

The St. John family has been visited by tragedy twice. They lost a dear family member. Now they may lose their father and main breadwinner. We can’t let them be victimized by the criminal justice system!
This urgent and ongoing emergency will take months or years to resolve, and your help is greatly needed.

In the spirit of Black Lives Matter, here is your chance to help a local young African American man who we believe has been unfairly accused of manslaughter. While we cannot know the destination of BLM donations nationally, we can still make a difference locally.
We hope that others will take an interest in this case, and donate to a just cause.
Please donate, and share widely.
